Cayman Islands Government Dispels Little Cayman Aid Rumours
The Cayman Islands Government is aware of a misleading message circulating on WhatsApp that falsely calls for emergency aid for Little Cayman. As the outer bands of Tropical Depression Nineteen are currently affecting the Cayman Islands, this misinformation has caused unnecessary concern and confusion. The Government would like to clarify that no request for aid has been issued.
Mark Tibbetts, District Commissioner for Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, addressed the situation, stating, “Our priority is the safety and well-being of all residents. There is no call for emergency aid for Little Cayman at this time. I encourage everyone to verify any such requests with the District Officer in Little Cayman or the Sister Islands Emergency Committee via District Administration in the Brac. It is crucial to rely on official channels to prevent the spreading of inaccurate information.”
