Cayman Islands government names new Deputy Director at Needs

The Ministry of Community Affairs, Youth and Sports is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Hylton to the position of Deputy Director at the Needs Assessment Unit (NAU).

Following a series of assessments recruiters chose Mr Hylton as the successful candidate for this post, for which there was open competition.

Chief Officer Dorine Whittaker said: “We are thrilled to have Matthew progress professionally as part of our team, which shows that the Ministry is succeeding in its efforts to prioritise talent management.

“Matthew consistently demonstrates exemplary work ethics in the execution of his duties. The Ministry is confident that he is equipped to successfully undertake this senior role,” added Mrs. Whittaker.

Mr Hylton has worked with the NAU since its inception in 2013, and played a vital role in its daily operations and management, supporting the Director in all areas of work.

Prior to joining the NAU, Mr Hylton had been employed as Social Worker with the Department of Children and Family Services, handling welfare and child protection matters.   “Over the past several months he has executed the duties of Acting Deputy Director to a commendable standard,” said Tamara Hurlston, NAU Director.

Mr Hylton is a past recipient of the Deputy Governor’s Employee of the Month Award. He holds bachelor degrees in social work and spanish language and graduated with cum laude honours from Andrews University in Michigan in the United States.

“He is currently studying for his masters of science in leadership, all the while carrying out his role full-time at the NAU. We are very impressed with his dedication,” added Ms. Hurlston.
