Cayman Islands issues new stamps to herald the Christmas Season
Four new stamps are the highlight of the Postal Service Christmas issue.
- All the stamps depict titles of popular Christmas songs.
- An Official First Day cover also goes on sale next week.
Grand Cayman (GIS) – This Christmas Season’s postal stamps offering will have buyers humming in the holiday cheer, while celebrating the joy and blessings of the religious festival.
This newest offering from the Cayman Islands Postal Service is a four-stamp collection depicting the titles of four ever-popular Christmas Hymns featured on island-themed graphics.
The 25¢ stamp highlights the song “We Three Kings of Orient Are” and the 80¢ harks to the evocative cadences of “O Holy Night”. Meanwhile, the notable carol, “Away in a Manger” is honoured in the $1.50 stamp and the $2 stamp heralds “Joy to the World”.
The First Day Cover will be available at the Postal Service’s Philatelic Bureau at the West Shore Centre Post Office, as well as the General Post Office in downtown George Town and the Hell Post Office in West Bay. On Cayman Brac, the FDC will be on sale at the West End Post Office.
The official First Day Cover depicts all four stamps the Postal Service has released for the 2018 Christmas season, which also features two National Symbols, the Cayman Islands Parrot and the Banana Orchid as well as a Queen Conch Shell.
“We at the Postal Service are delighted to be joining in the people’s celebration of beloved and popular Christmas songs this year,” noted Postmaster General, Ms Sheena Glasgow. “We hope the stamp issue will add to the seasonal joy and cheer that abounds at this time of the year.”
