Cayman Islands: John Gray High School history students receive an official photograph of the late Reverend John Gray, MBE.

On Monday February 18, 2019 Year 11 Caribbean History students at John Gray High School received an official photograph of the late Reverend John Gray, MBE, for whom the school was named.

The occasion was made possible through the efforts of the Cayman Islands National Archive, as well as through the kind and gracious loan of a photograph from Reverend Gray’s daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Scholefield.

To make the presentation on behalf of Reverend Gray’s family was his son, Mr. John Gray who also taught at the institution for several years.

Also on hand from the National Archive was Ms. Charisse Morrison.

The brief ceremony marked a rewarding end to the research efforts of the students who had been visiting the archive for several weeks to acquire practical experience in historical research while examining a number of local history topics.

Also present to receive the photograph was Principal Jon Clark and Caribbean History teacher, Georgia Harding.

This year marks 70 years since the establishment of the school and twenty-seven years since it was named after Reverend Gray.
