Cayman Islands Law School Founding Director passes
The Truman Bodden Law School (TBLS) has recently become aware of the passing on 2 June 2018 of Professor Peter Rowe, founding Director of the then Cayman Islands Law School.
Peter accepted the role of first law school Director when invited to assist in establishing the Law School by then Minister of Education, the Hon Truman Bodden OBE. Peter performed this role during the years 1982-1984, following which he returned to his permanent posting at the University of Liverpool’s law school.
Following his return to the University, Peter was instrumental in establishing the law school’s long-standing affiliation with the University, whose undergraduate and postgraduate degrees continue to be offered through TBLS.
Peter maintained an enduring affection for the law school and the people of the Cayman Islands and continued in his role as a member of the Editorial Board of the Cayman Islands Law Review, published by TBLS, at the time of his passing.
Peter last visited the Cayman Islands in March 2007 when he was invited to be the keynote speaker at the law school’s 25th anniversary celebrations held that year.
