Cayman Islands: Lions Club of Grand Cayman -Youth Choir Competition 2016
The Lions Club of Grand Cayman is pleased to announce that it will be hosting their second annual all-island Youth Choir Competition this year. The competition was opened to all public and private schools in Grand Cayman and the preliminary round for the competition has concluded. The following schools will compete in the final round in their respective category on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Lions Community Centre at 6:30pm:
Infant Category: Cayman Prep & High School, Prospect Primary School, Savannah Primary
School, Grace Christian Academy
Junior Category: Cayman Prep & High School, Prospect Primary School, Savannah Primary
School
Secondary Category: Clifton Hunter High School and John Gray High School
Schools will compete for “1st Place” in their category and $500.00 KYD towards their school’s music department, as well as the title of “Youth Choir Competition Champion” and an additional
$500.00 KYD towards their school’s music department. The night of the final competition is sure to be eventful including performances by competing schools and local musicians, along with a raffle drawing of various spot prizes. The competition was designed as a fundraising project to aid the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands organisation. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes a positive impact on children and empowers them to succeed. Each time Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs a child with a role model, they start something incredible: a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential. Youth Choir Competition Committee Chairperson, Lion Janelle Tibbetts comments, “Through this fundraising event, we will be able to support this programme and continue to positively impact the youth of the Cayman Islands. In addition to this, the competition allows for the Lions Club of Grand Cayman to advocate for the arts in our local community and give exposure to music programmes within public and private schools.”
