Cayman Islands Lions’ prostate and colon cancer event a big success
The Lions Club of Grand Cayman is pleased to announce the success of PACCE (Prostate and Colon Cancer Event) 4th Annual Delano Hislop Memorial 3-Day Journey for Life Walk/Run.
The Lions Club of Grand Cayman annually hosts a robust campaign, PACCE, to educate the country on the effects and possible prevention of diseases that primarily affect men’s health, starting with prostate, colon and testicular cancers. The prevalence of the related issues, locally and regionally, have prompted the club to focus on creating an acute awareness among our male population and hopefully remove some of the dangerous myths that prevent many individuals from even getting checked in the first place. Since the first year of this programme, it has been noted that there is a significant increase in PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing which is offered free of charge at PACCE awareness meetings and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society (CICS).
This year’s 3-Day Journey for Life Walk/Run took place on July 4-6, 2015, with the most participants to date. The total amount raised through this venture was approximately $40,000 KYD. The Lions Club of Grand Cayman distributed 50% of
