From RCIPS Tue May 23 2017

Around 12:30AM early Sunday morning, 21 May, officers responded to a report of an accident at Tropical Plaza on Smith Road where a woman had reportedly been hit by a car.  The woman was transported to the hospital, and it was learned that the car had run over her foot.  The driver of the vehicle had already left the scene when police arrived.

Based on information gathered at the scene, officers were able to contact the driver and met him at his residence in George Town.  The driver, a man, age 50 of George Town, was thereafter arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident.  He is now on Police bail.

The driver is an auxiliary constable with the RCIPS.

The incident is under police investigation, and has also been referred to the RCIPS Professional Standards Unit.
