A man, aged 53 of George Town, has been formally charged with Dangerous Driving, Driving Whilst Impaired, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Misleading the Police.

These charges arise from a hit-and-run traffic accident which took place on Saturday, 10 June, on Crewe Road in George Town.  He has been bailed to appear in court on 8 January, 2018.

The man charged is a police officer of Inspector rank with the RCIPS; the incident occurred when he was off duty.  He has been on suspension since 13 June as a result of this incident.
