Cayman Islands: Motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist, 1 February

Just after 1PM today (Fri), police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a cyclist. The incident took place on Thomas Russell Avenue, George Town, in the vicinity of the CNB Roundabout.
The incident took place when a Mitsubishi Chariot was travelling southbound from Thomas Russell Avenue towards the Cayman National Bank Roundabout and the cyclist was attempting to cross the street on Thomas Russell Avenue towards Printers Way. The collision caused damage to both the vehicle and the bicycle, and injury to the cyclist only.
The cyclist was attended to by the Emergency Medical Services and transported to the hospital for further treatment for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The matter is under investigation by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
