Cayman Islands: Motor vehicle collision Thursday evening, 14 July, on Shamrock Rd; Drug arrest

About 8:30PM Thursday evening, 14 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the vicinity of 2929 Shamrock Road. A Chevy Colorado and Honda Acura, both with male drivers and no passengers, were travelling opposite directions, and had collided. Both drivers were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Traffic was diverted around the scene but the road was not closed.
The driver of the Honda Acura, a man, age 28, of Bodden Town, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a breath specimen.
During the course of the incident officers’ suspicions were aroused with respect to the Honda Acura and driver. The vehicle was searched a quantity of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine was subsequently recovered. The man was then subsequently arrested on suspicion of Possession of Cocaine with Intent. He is currently in custody.
