Motor Vehicle Accident Esterley Tibbetts Highway, Grand Cayman

At about 11.05pm last night emergency services responded to a one vehicle accident in the vicinity of Lakeside Apartments on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. On arrival police found a male lying in the road with injuries to his forehead and appeared to be unconscious, also debris spread across the entire road.

The injured male received medical treatment and was taken to George Town Hospital by ambulance.

The circumstances are that a 51 year old male was driving a Mazda Premacy motor vehicle, no passengers, along Esterley Tibbetts highway towards George Town, on reaching the area of Lakeside Apartments the vehicle lost control and collided with a CUC pole removing same from base, the motor vehicle then flipped on impact and came to rest on the opposite side of the roadway.

The roadway was eventually cleared and investigations are continuing.

Update on the injured driver today is; he is conscious with broken bones, injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Injured driver remains in hospital in the critical care unit under observation.
