Police has released the name of the man who died shortly before midnight Thursday night, Egbert Hugh James of West Bay. The matter is under investigation and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Around 7:25pm last night, Thursday, 6 August, police responded to a report of a male suffering from internal pain on land at West Church Street. The man, age 69, from West Bay, was transferred to hospital where he later passed away.
Police are investigating the matter on behalf of the Coroner, but there are no suspicious circumstances at this stage. It is believed that the man was Guinep picking from a tree, when he fell. The next of kin were notified.
Robbery George Town

At around 3:30am this morning police responded to a report of a robbery on Sound Way, George Town where a man had been robbed of monies by two masked males.
A man reported that he went to his place of business early this morning when he was approached by two men who demanded cash. One of the males was in possession of a machete and the other with a knuckle duster.
They made off with his watch and an undetermined amount of cash. Before doing so he was hit to his head by the male with the knuckle duster. There was apparently a third male who collected items dropped at the scene. He was transported to the hospital by a member of the public where he was treatment for his injuries and released.
George Town CID is investigating the matter.

MVA on North Church Street

Today sometime around 1pm a passenger van and taxi collided on North Church Street [near the Lobster Pot]. As of 1:50pm a man in the taxi was being removed by emergency personnel. As of 2pm North Church Street was closed to traffic from Eastern Avenue until north of Mary Street. We will issue updates.

Loose packaged vegetable matter resembling ganja found on beach in East End
On Tuesday, 4 August, a member of the public alerted police after discovering a package of vegetable matter resembling ganja on the beach near the Gun Bay area in the East End. Officers responded to the scene, retrieved the package, and searched the area. It is believed that the package may be connected to an overturned 28ft. motored boat which was discovered last Thursday in the vicinity and brought to shore by another member of the public. The package has been taken into evidence and will be destroyed within 24 hours.
