Slavery be dead…we be free! ExhibitionThis exhibition explores the history of slavery in the Cayman Islands, from the abduction of Africans by British traders to the brutal Middle Passage and the arrival of Jamaican slaves in 1734. It highlights the early timber industry, resistance figures like Celia Long, and the legal journey to emancipation in 1834, including the lingering effects of the Apprenticeship System.
