Cayman Islands Orchid Show hosts world-renowned speaker
The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Cayman Orchid Society have teamed up to host one of the largest events at the Botanic Park this February 27 and 28 — The Annual Orchid Show and Fundraising Sale!
The Botanic Park will be brimming with 100’s of blooming and non-blooming orchids as the stage is set for world-renowned orchid hybridizer, Mr. Gene Crocker. A world leader in the hybridization of the Cattleya Genera, Mr. Gene Crocker will give an educational speech on both days at 11:00AM.
“We are very pleased to be hosting the largest annual event at the Botanic Park and are honored to have Mr. Gene Crocker as our guest speaker” — Mr. John Lawrus, General Manager, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.
The Visitor Centre will be transformed into a splendid display of Orchid Society Members’ plants, set among a beautifully designed backdrop created and donated by Sticks & Stones Interior. There will be a BBQ starting at 11:00am each day and lots of orchids to admire and take home to make your own!
“We will have over a thousand orchids for sale from bare root Cattleya species and hybrids, spectacular blooming Vanda and Phalaenoposis species and hundreds more.” – Mr. John Lawrus, General Manager, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.
The event is aimed at raising funds for the Cayman Orchid Society and the Botanic Park, of which proceeds will go toward the development of the Orchid Boardwalk. Of course, guests will also be able to explore all of the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park on the day, taking in the beauty of the Color Gardens, the Buttonwood Pond, the Woodland Trails and much more!
The event is made possible thanks to the hard work of volunteers and sponsors; DMS Broadcasting Sticks & Stones and Rugs Oriental.
The Annual Orchid Show and Fundraising Sale will take place at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park in North Side on February 27 and February 28 from 9:00AM to 4:30PM each day. Admission for adults is $8 CI and kids under 12 go free.
