Cayman Islands ORIA runway reopens following temporary closure
From CIAA
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (8, January 2016) The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) can confirm that an aircraft broke down on the runway at noon today (Friday, 8 January) after landing, which caused the runway at the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) to be temporarily closed while the aircraft was removed.
Upon special inspection of the runway a spill of hydraulic fluid was found. The Airports Authority then reopened the runway, excluding the pavement containing the spill while they worked to clear the spill.
At 1:25pm both outgoing and incoming flights resumed operations. The runway was fully operational by 3:45pm today.
