Around 10:30PM on Friday evening, 11 September, the Air Operations Unit observed suspicious activity by two vessels tied together outside the reef off the Frank Sound junction area. The vessels then departed in opposite directions, with the first vessel, which appeared to be a Jamiacan canoe, heading southeast, and the second vessel headed in the direction of the Frank Sound Dock. The police helicopter followed the canoe as it approached international waters, then turned around to follow the second boat.
Uniform officers from Bodden Town had already been dispatched and had been searching the shoreline area. They had discovered a significant quantity of drugs in bushes onshore, and coordinated with the police helicopter to track the second boat as it came onshore. They then arrested the captain of that boat, a man, age 39, on suspicion of the Importation of Ganja. The man is currently on Police Bail.
