End of Update
Officers were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a man selling drugs in the parking lot of a liquor-licensed establishment on West Bay Road just before 1AM this morning, Thursday, 8 June. Officers saw a man fitting the description given and searched him under the Misuse of Drugs Law; a small amount of ganja was found on his person and officers proceeded to arrest him.
As the man was about to be handcuffed, he began to resist arrest, struggling with officers in an aggressive and combative manner. In the course of this struggle, he bit one officer on the arm and damaged police personal safety equipment. He was ultimately subdued and arrested for damage to property as well as possession of ganja.
A further check was made of his vehicle in the parking lot, and more ganja was recovered. He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug (ganja) with intent to supply. The man is currently in Police custody.
The arresting officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.
