The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) are investigating an off duty police officer who allegedly left the scene of an accident in the early hours of Friday (14) morning.

The police confirmed Monday (17) a 54 year old RCIPS officer had been arrested later that same day and bailed in connection with a single vehicle crash in in Ithmar Circle, George Town. They had received the report at approx.1:40 am Fri.

A police spokes person said, “Later that morning a 54-year-old police officer was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue. The officer has been suspended from driving police vehicles.”
