Cayman Islands Police report “A Busy Weekend”

(1.) On Friday 9th of June 2017 the RCIPS requested the public’s assistance in locating one Troy Pearson after he had evaded arrest during a drug operation in Prospect. On Thursday, 15th of June Mr. Pearson turned himself into the Cayman Islands Government Detention Centre. He has since been formally charged by Detectives from the Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force for the following seven (7) offences:-

1. Being Concerned in the Importation of Ganja
2. Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply
3. Possession of Ganja
4. Assaulting a Police Officer
5. Assaulting a Customs Officer
6. Resisting Arrest
7. Escaping Lawful Custody

He remains in Police Custody and will appear in Court on Tuesday 20th June 2017 at 10:00am.

(2.) On Monday 12th June 2017 police received a report of Burglary at a George Town residence where TVs, laptop, IPads and numerous other electronic items were stolen. Uniform officers carried out investigations into the matter which led to an address off Crewe Rd., George Town. A warrant was executed on the premises and the properties belonging the victim was recovered. Other items such as jewelry were also recovered. A 47-year-old male, Dominican National residing off Crewe Road, George Town was arrested at his residence today, Sunday, 18th of June 2017 for the offences of Burglary and Handling Stolen Goods.

(3.) On Friday 16th of June police also arrested and subsequently charged a 26-year-old male of George Town for two counts of Assault ABH in connection with domestic related incidents.

(4.) Shortly after 11:00pm last night Saturday 17th of June 2017 911 received a call from a security guard when a male was seen attempting to break into a gas station on Dorcy Drive, George Town. Police units immediately responded to the area and arrested a 26-year-old George Town man for Attempt Burglary. He remains in police while investigations continue.

A police spokesperson said that they are encouraged by the cooperation from members of the public that have refused to cower in fear and to take a stand against crime by providing information to the police or other assistance. There should be no safe sanctuary for those determined to cause harm to the peace and safety of our communities either from within or outside. Police have redeployed several resources, including cancellation of rest days to ensure heightened police presence and to staff up operations to target criminal elements, which will continue and the public should not be alarmed.
