The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has invited the public to provide feedback on its services as part of its strategic planning process.

Chief Superintendent, Kurt Walton explains that the RCIPS have developed an online survey that will allow people an opportunity to give their views on the police service.

‘They will be able to tell us what’s important to them and the areas of business they feel we need to improve upon. The information we receive will be analyzed and taken into consideration when setting our future priorities,’ Ch. Supt. Walton remarks.

Interested persons can access the 41-question survey through the Government www.gov.ky, and RCIPS www.rcips.ky websites, where it will be available for completion from 22 September until 1 November 2014.

While the questionnaire focuses on community perceptions surrounding neighbourhood crime and policing, it also encourages the public to evaluate the quality of its interactions with members of the police service in various scenarios.

In coming weeks the police will publicise the link through leaflets posted in the community and information shared with the press.

Ch. Supt. Walton says organisers opted for an electronic survey in the belief that it would be more efficient for people to find, complete and submit back to the RCIPS.

‘For those who want to complete the survey but don’t have direct access to the Internet, all Cayman Islands libraries offer free access to members. Library membership is also free, but for non-card holders C.I.$1.00 will buy 30 minutes of Internet time which is more than sufficient to complete all questions,’ he comments.

Urging individuals to take advantage of the opportunity to share their opinions on the direction that policing should take in the Cayman Islands, Commissioner of Police David Baines adds that responses to the survey will help determine how the police allocate resources in the future.
