Grand Cayman (GIS) – Starting a new tradition this festive season, the 50+ staff in the Portfolio of Legal Affairs (PoLA) recently donated some 70 Christmas presents to their local charity of choice, the Special Needs Foundation, Cayman.
Presenting the gifts at the Foundation’s new office in Corporate Plaza, Godfrey Nixon Way, on Monday 17 December were PoLA’s Acting Solicitor General and Acting Chief Officer, Ms Dawn Lewis; Financial Administrator, Ms Shemina McLaughlin; and Administrative Secretary, Ms Tesia Scott.
The staff decided to launch a tradition of giving back to the community this Christmas season, by donating gifts to the special needs children aged up to 18 years.
“We know that there are disadvantaged persons who could benefit from the community’s generosity. We plan to have an annual Christmas charity drive. The staff selected this charity to bring awareness to the foundation’s vision” Ms Lewis says.
The mission statement of the Foundation states it is dedicated to the development and provision of appropriate and comprehensive support services for persons with special needs. For more information about the foundation that was started in 2008, please visit http://www.specialneedsfoundation.ky/.
