The Cayman Islands Red Cross (CIRC) annual dinner and dance is this Saturday (9) and this year it will feature world renowned Rod Stewart tribute artist Doug Varty, who has performed around the globe as this legendary British singer.

CIRC is one of the most established volunteer-based, humanitarian, nonprofit organizations on the island, has been hosting its gala for the last decade. Thanks to one small but evocative word “dance” it has become one of the most well-loved events in the Cayman islands social calendar

The CIRC dinner dance gala features silent auctions, fabulous prizes, affordable raffle tickets promising big wins; and the ever-entertaining live auction that showcases not only goods, but also experiences.

All the proceeds from the CIRC dinner dance gala fund the work of the Cayman Islands Red Cross. More specifically, funds go toward the disaster management program, which assists the most vulnerable communities through education, preparedness, mitigation and response activities and projects. These include:

The first aid/CPR/AED and lifeguarding programme, which trains CIRC volunteers, community response team members and other persons in basic lifesaving skills.
HIV and AIDS awareness, education and prevention.
Child sexual abuse awareness and prevention.
Thrift shop community outreach, which makes necessary goods available to the most vulnerable, free of cost, both in George Town and in the outer districts.
Volunteer training and development, which not only enhances the human capacity of the CIRC, but also of the community as a whole.
The CIRC annual dinner dance gala will be held on Saturday, May 9, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Governor’s Ballroom at the Westin Seven Mile Beach Resort.
