THE ANIMALS (PRESCRIBED POISONS) REGULATIONS, 2018
The Cabinet, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 70(8) and 91 of the Animals Law (2015 Revision), makes the following Regulations –
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Animals (Prescribed Poisons) Regulations, 2018.
2. (1) The poisons listed in paragraph (2) may be used by the Director to destroy any animal in accordance with section 70(8) of the Animals Law (2015 Revision).
(2) The poisons referred to in paragraph (1) are as follows –
(a) Barbituric acid and its salts;
(b) derivatives of barbituric acid and their salts;
(c) compound of barbituric acid and its salts with any other
substance;
(e) derivatives of the compound of barbituric acid and their salts
with any other substance;
(f) T-61 Euthanasia solution or similar product containing
Embutramide, Mebezonium iodide and Tetracaine hydrochloride.
(g) 1080 (Sodium fluoracetate);
(h) PAPP (para-aminopropiophenome; 4′-Aminopropiophenone);
(i) Ketamine;
(j) Concentrated electrolyte solution of either Potassium Chloride or
Magnesium Sulphate;
(k) Volatile inhalation anaesthetics – Halothane, Enflurane,
Isoflurane, Sevoflurane, Desflurane, or other fluorinated ether
inhalation anesthetics; and
(l) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas & Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas.
