This brief observance marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended the First World War, and remembers all military personnel who have fallen since. The Remembrance Sunday religious services that also mark the occasion are traditionally held on the first Sunday in November and, in the Cayman Islands also recall all those lost at sea.
During this time local residents are also encouraged to donate funds to the Cayman Islands Veterans Association. In return for their donation they will receive a poppy, which symbolise the blood of the fallen. The flowers are available from the reception area of the Government Administration Building as well as from members of the Veterans’ Association. For more information email [email protected].
