Cayman Islands: UPDATE – Serious Wounding Incident

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department charged the 21 yr. old man of George Town on Friday 14/4/17 for the offences of Wounding with intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm and Carrying an Offensive Weapon. He is due to appear in Court on Tuesday 18/4/17. The RCIPS can confirm at this time that the suspect is known to the victim.
The victim has since been released from the hospital.

Last night, around 8:30pm a female entered the George Town Police Station with what appeared to be serious injuries to her arm and body. The female was administered first aid by officers on duty until the arrival of the ambulance then transported her to the hospital. Police learned that the incident occurred near the George Town Post Office and attended the scene. The suspect was still on location and armed with a large knife and stones. Some members of the public were attempting to calm the situation. A foot chased ensued and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody. The victim is said to be in stable condition.
The matter is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department.
