Cayman Islands: Small Business Association, Ministry of Commerce team up for Expo
The Cayman Islands Small Business Association (CISBA) will be working alongside the Ministry of Commerce to stage the 2016 Small Business Expo.
The expo will take place on Saturday, 28 May, at the University College of the Cayman Islands Fellowship Hall. The event is going into its fourth year, having previously been hosted by the Department of Commerce and Investment.
‘The Ministry is happy that CISBA volunteered to lead the organizing efforts for the expo. As an interest group run by, and created for small business owners, CISBA is an ideal partner to continue the expo – which accommodates the needs of small businesses in Cayman’, said the Ministry’s Deputy Chief Officer Tamara Ebanks.
The expo will feature workshops on topics such as the new Trade and Business Licensing Law, the new Minimum Wage Law, and social media usage. There will also be a cocktail reception that will provide networking opportunities.
CISBA President Dawn McLean-Sawney said the idea behind the expo remains the same: to increase the awareness of small and micro businesses; provide an opportunity for small business owners to network; and educate and motivate participants in the numerous workshops.
‘We hope to celebrate the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and existing business owners. We have titled this year’s event “Synergy”, to acknowledge the collaboration within the local business community and the relationship between local businesses and Government. By acknowledging entrepreneurial contributions in our community, we hope to inspire others to follow their dreams of owning their own businesses’, she said.
Event sponsors are being sought at the gold, silver and bronze levels. Among other benefits, the gold sponsor will receive a complimentary 10′ x 10′ booth and free advertising opportunities. Silver sponsors have an opportunity to present workshops and promote their businesses on radio programs. Bronze sponsors have an opportunity to provide giveaways and take part in prize-drawing activities.
