Cayman Islands: St. Ignatius boys take full points in West Bay
With the national festival activities in full swing, schools took to the fields this past Saturday, November 10 to participate in the sixth round of games in the 2018 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and CUC Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) regular seasons.
In Group A, St. Ignatius Catholic travelled to West Bay to face Sir John A. Cumber Primary and were rewarded with two wins out of three.
In the CUC PFL Under 9 encounter, St. Ignatius’ Patrick Roberts scored from open play in the 3rd minute and from the penalty spot in the 35th minute to secure a 2-0 win and all three points for his young team.
In the Under 11 matchup, St. Ignatius’ Kyan Okoli scored in the first 30 seconds of play and in the 21st minute to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over the West Bay boys. Kai Robinson scored in the 13th minute and Oliver Cooke in the 27th minute to secure the win. Sir John A. Cumber’s Zephon Ebanks scored a consolation goal in the 49th minute for his outfit.
In the CUC GPFL game, the young ladies from Sir John A. Cumber brought some joy and cheer to the parents in attendance as they outlasted their counterparts from the capital 2-0 thanks to goals from Kaycia Lee in the 19th minute and Hannah Bryan in the 31st minute.
In other CUC PFL Group A games, it was Cayman Prep 9B 4 vs. Cayman International 9White 0 (Under 9) and Truth For Youth 1 vs. George Town Primary 0 (Under 9). Results from two games that were re- scheduled for Monday, November 11 were Savannah Primary 4 vs. Cayman International 9White 0 (Under 9 – respect rule) and Savannah Primary 1 vs. Cayman International 11White 0 (Under 11).
In CUC PFL Group B games, it was NorthEast Schools 0 vs. Bodden Town Primary 1 (Under 9); Triple C 0 vs. Cayman International 9Blue 4 (Under 9 – respect rule); Triple C 1 vs. Cayman International 11Blue 4 (Under 11); Red Bay Primary 0 vs. South Sound Schools 2 (Under 9); Red Bay Primary 1 vs. Prospect Primary 0 (Under 11); and Cayman Prep 5 vs. Cayman Brac 1 (Under 11).
In other CUC GPFL games played, it was Bodden Town Primary 0 vs. Savannah Primary 4 (respect rule); Cayman Prep 4 vs. George Town 0 (respect rule); and Cayman International School 5 vs. South Sound Schools 1.
The final round of CUC PFL regular season games are scheduled for this Saturday, November 17 with games at the Annex Field, Ronald Forbes Field, West Bay Town Hall Field, St. Ignatius Catholic School, Bodden Town Primary and Prospect Primary.
