Cayman Islands: Two arrested in relation to use of unlicensed motorcycle

Shortly before 7:00PM on Wednesday, 8 May, officers responded to a report of a female riding a motorcycle on Martin Drive, George Town, without a helmet or license. Officers attended the location and instructed the woman to pull over, however she continued to ride and stopped near a house in the area. As officers attempted to speak to her, a man at the location became verbally aggressive towards them. The man also attempted to prevent the officers from inspecting the bike, which was determined to have no license plate or coupon.
The woman, age 18 of George Town, refused to provide her name and address to the officers and was subsequently arrested. The man, age 35 of George Town, continued to act aggressively towards the officers, and was arrested for obstructing police in the lawful execution of their duty, and failing to provide his name and address.
In addition, the woman was warned for intended prosecution for keeping a vehicle on road required to be licensed, using a vehicle without a certificate of roadworthiness, and driving a motor vehicle without insurance.
The man was also warned for intended prosecution for permitting the use of a motor vehicle required to be licensed and permitting a person to drive without insurance.
They have been bailed as investigations continue.
