Cayman Islands University President accepts MasterCard Foundation Scholars Mentor invitation

headshot-president-lgMr. JA Roy Bodden, JP, President of the University of the Cayman Islands (UCCI), has recently accepted an invitation from the MasterCard Foundation to become a mentor in its Scholars Programme. The purpose of the programme is to advance leadership skills, create connections and support transitions for its scholars.
These scholars attend schools and universities around the globe but mainly hail from Sub-Saharan Africa and study on scholarships provided by the MasterCard Foundation. The programme aims to advance leaders with integrity through designed learning materials and modules. The foundation seeks to build a community of mentors to guide and coach scholars as they progress through their journey. This esteemed group now includes President Bodden.
Associate Programme Manager Faith Biyapo stated in his invitation to President Bodden, “When looking at our network, we thought of you as a natural choice, since your background, experience and expertise would provide such a benefit to our scholars.”
While President Bodden’s participation is non-remunerative, this invitation is undoubtedly prestigious as it speaks volumes for his leadership of UCCI and especially his work in the Men of Standard Programme.
In commenting on the invitation, President Bodden said, “I am humbled by this invitation especially in light of the fact that the good work being accomplished at UCCI is on the radar of an international corporation of the magnitude of MasterCard. It will be my delight to offer mentorship and I am sure that the experience will be highly rewarding and mutually beneficial.
The platform is scheduled to be launched in October 2016 and it is anticipated that President Bodden will be assigned a cohort of four scholars.
