Cayman Islands: Valentine records Threepeat finish
George Town, GC, Thursday 29 November 1, 2018: Sean-Douglas Valentine has solidified himself in the record books, as one of Cayman’s top runners, after securing his 3rd consecutive Brac Breeze Fusion 5K Walk/Run victory. In only its 3rd year the Brac leg of the Breeze Fusion 5K series, the Valentine family of Sean-Douglas, Sister Di’ Jhaney, and Mother Tessa have emerged as the Cayman Brac running dynasty with both Sean-Douglas and D’Jhaney clinching the top Male and Female titles, and Tessa finishing as the 2nd overall woman.
Following the inaugural launch of the Brac Breeze Fusion 5K Walk/Run in 2016, the event, now in its 3rd year has become a permanent fixture on the events schedule for Cayman Brac. Close to 70 runners and walkers registered for the Walk/Run.The 5K event took place on Saturday, 24 November at South Side Public Beach.
The overall top Male and Female finishers were:
Top Male:
Sean-Douglas Valentine (age 15) – 21.30
Evol Miller (age 21) – 25.18
Gogonio Hermes (age 41) – 26.55
Top Female:
Di’ Jhaney Valentine (age 13) – 26.03
Tessa Valentine (age 35) – 32.08
Jacqueline Sohan (age 42) – 32.41
Radio Cayman, Deputy Director Paulette Conolly-Bailey offered her congratulations to the Valentine Family on their successful performance at the event and said: “Overall, it was a fantastic morning in the Brac and I was elated at the support given to the charity. It was truly a special community event and I hope it continues to grow into an even bigger one next year. Thanks to all who made it happen.“
The event organised by Radio Cayman and Breeze FM, launched in 2016 as an extension of the Annual Grand Cayman Breeze Walk/Run every November. This year’s charity raised funds in support of the Sew ‘n So Club programme, which creates home sewn goods for the elderly.
