Cayman Islands: Water related death

Yesterday (Wed 12), around 2:20pm 911 received a call of a person in distress onboard a vessel in the North Sound. While snorkeling, he was observed to be experiencing some difficulties. He was taken unto the vessel and commenced CPR with the guidance of 911 operators. The Joint Marine Unit responded in Niven D, met the vessel and continued CPR until reaching Safe Haven where they were met by the ambulance.
Unfortunately he passed away early this morning at the George Town Hospital. The victim, a 77 yr. old Mexican national was visiting with his family at the time of the incident.
The matter is under investigation by the Joint Marine Unit.
