UPDATE:

Police can now confirm the identity of the man, age 68, who died on Wednesday, 17 October, after experiencing difficulties in the water at Seven Mile Public Beach. He is James Christopher Knapp, a US National residing in Cayman.  

The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.

Shortly after 8:30AM today, 17 October, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched police and emergency services to a report of a person in distress at the Seven Mile Public Beach. A male at the location was fond unresponsive and transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital. He was subsequently pronounced dead. The man, age 68, was a Cayman Islands resident.
