Cayman Islands: Water related death off North West Point, West Bay

Further to the water-related death reported yesterday, 6 December (original press release attached), we can officially confirm that the name of the deceased is Gary Paul Kodman.

Few details are available yet in a report of a diver death of Northwest Point in Grand Cayman. The 65 year old diver was diving with Reef Divers.
CPR was apparently attempted on board the dive boat and continued by EMT’s. The fact that CPR continued indicates to me that the diver was not beyond all possible hope upon EMT contact.

On Sunday 6th December 2015, around 10:27 am 911 received a report that an ambulance was needed at the West Bay dock to assist a diver.
The ambulance and EMT were on hand to continue CPR on the diver following his arrival at the West Bay Dock.
The diver, a 65 year old male from Tennessee, USA was pronounced dead at the George Town Hospital.
The deceased arrived in Cayman with his wife on December 5th 2015.
The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Joint Marine Unit of the RCIPS.
