Cayman: Maples Group donates over US$50,000 in continued COVID-19 Relief Support
The Maples Group is proud to have recently made a further donation of US$53,200 to two local organisations as part of its philanthropic efforts to support those in the local community who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. The recent donation brings the Group’s COVID-19 related donations to over US$400,000.
The recipients of the most recent donation were Cayman’s Acts of Random Kindness (“ARK”) and Resilience Cayman who each received US$26,600 towards their respective Utility Relief and Relief Care Packages programmes that provide financial assistance to families and individuals affected by COVID-19. The donation also supported Resilience Cayman to offer financial grants to more than 200 families and ARK to distribute relief care packages to nearly 1200 people.
Tara Nielsen, Director at Cayman’s ARK commented, “ARK is sincerely grateful for this generous donation. We are encouraged that the Maples Group continues to support ARK’s Relief Care Package programme that ensures that those impacted by the pandemic and the closure of our borders are not disconnected from food, utilities, housing and access to healthcare. There has been no greater time to give to NPOs as we remain on the frontline one year after the initial lockdown, supporting desperate people who have nowhere else to turn for life’s basic needs.”
Jan Gupta, Director at Resilience stated, “Resilience Cayman is incredibly appreciative for the Maples Group, who have supported us to surpass the recent $100,000 goal to beat the summer heat. Thanks to the Maples Group generous donation, 645 local families, with critical disconnection notices, received Resilience grants to cover CUC arrears totalling over $112,564 in assistance”.
Remarking on the donation, Senior Vice President and member of the Maples Group’s Cayman Islands CSR Committee, Laura Chisholm, said “The Maples Group would like to extend its appreciation to ARK and Resilience for their continued efforts to help those affected by COVID-19 in our community and we are delighted to be able to provide financial assistance to aid them in their essential work.”
The Maples Group continues to support local causes and organisations in the Cayman Islands which focus on the development, improvement and benefit of five pillars in the community: Arts & Culture, Community Outreach, Healthcare, Sports and Youth & Education.
In 2020, the Maples Group and its team members proudly donated over US$600K to local charities and not-for-profit organisations dedicated to supporting the Cayman Islands community under its five pillars. Since 2008, the Maples Group has donated approximately US$8M to the local community and remains deeply committed to continuing its philanthropic programme.
