Cayman Marine Advisor

Overview

A strong high-pressure system is currently over the south-eastern United States, producing fresh to strong winds across the northwest Caribbean. A further increase in winds is expected later this week, as the pressure gradient increases across the northwest Caribbean. Winds are expected to be near gale force strength, with gale force (greater than 34) gusts.  A small craft advisory is in effect.

Given the expected further deterioration of marine conditions, a Marine Advisory will be in place for Wednesday, 4 December.  All marine vessels should exercise extreme caution from late night on Tuesday.

  • Tuesday – 20 to 25 knots with higher gusts.
  • Wednesday – 25 to 30 knots with higher gusts.
  • Thursday – 20 to 25 knots with higher gusts.

  • Wednesday – 9 to 11 feet. Marine Advisory.
  • Thursday – 7 to 9 feet. Small Craft Warning.
