Cayman: MIISD demonstrates commitment to innovating social development by providing over 50 tablets to Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)

GEORGE TOWN, CAYMAN ISLANDS December 6, 2023 — In a significant step toward innovating social
development initiatives, the Ministry of Investment, Innovation and Social Development (MIISD) proudly
provided over 50 tablets to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This strategic move
aims to empower DCFS in its crucial mission to support and enhance the well-being of children and
families in social need.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Social Development, the Hon. André Ebanks expressed his commitment
to enhancing the quality of life for all Caymanians; ” I am immensely proud to see our efforts to foster
positive change within our community come to life through this investment into the department. I am
particularly pleased to be here and provide these tablets to DCFS as this initiative demonstrates our
unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of life for our citizens, especially our children.”
MIISD Chief Officer, Tamara Ebanks echoed the Deputy Premier’s comments and highlighted the
importance of investing in innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of the community. “The
Ministry firmly believes that investing in technology is a pivotal step towards a more inclusive and
effective social development strategy. These tablets will serve as valuable tools, enabling DCFS to
perform their responsibilities with even greater efficiency and precision. It is our firm commitment to
invest in the tools necessary for the dedicated professionals at DCFS to continue their invaluable service
to the community.”
DCFS Receives Tablets from Minister Ebanks
Director of DCFS, Paulinda Mendoza-Williams explained how these tablets will impact the day to day
work of the Department resulting in better service to clients. “The well-being of our people is
paramount, and we believe that these technological resources will empower DCFS to more effectively
carry out our crucial work. These tablets will not only enhance communication and coordination but also
streamline processes, ultimately ensuring a more efficient and responsive approach to supporting our
children and families in need.”
