Cayman Minister Bryan to attend upcoming IRF Conference in Barbados
George Town, Cayman Islands (31st May 2022); A delegation of transport officials led by Hon. Kenneth Bryan, Minister for Tourism and Transport, are attending the 10th Annual International Roads Federation (IRF) Caribbean Regional Congress in Bridgetown, Barbados, from 7th to 10th June.
The delegation includes Chief Officer of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport, Stran Bodden and Director of Tourism Rosa Harris, who is the current chair of the Public Transport Board, along with Kim Ramoon, the Senior Public Transport Inspector.
The IRF Conference is a vital gathering point for the region’s top transportation decision-makers and professionals to network, exchange experiences, discuss regional case studies and policy recommendations as well as share innovative ideas, and international insights.
“It is imperative for the Cayman Islands to have a presence at conferences such as this, to engage with regional stakeholders and heads of government, in which to acquire innovative concepts and processes,” said Minister Bryan. “By exploring what other small island states are accomplishing, as it pertains to their transportation requirements, and through an evidence based approached we can best determine methods to turn innovative ideas and shared data into tangible outcomes for the Cayman Islands.”
While in Barbados, Minister Bryan will have the opportunity to meet with senior government officials along with Secretary General, Neil Walters and Membership Director, Faye Gill of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO) which is headquartered on the island.
Among the conference highlights, delegates will attend informational sessions including the topics, Addressing the Challenges of Road Safety; Decarbonizing Road Transport by 2050; and Incorporating Equity into Transportation Projects.
