Cayman: MoTT celebrates Student’s World Class Achievement
The Ministry of Tourism and Transport (MOTT) is delighted to offer congratulations to 19-year-old Liam Bulgin for his outstanding achievement in receiving the highest mark in the world for the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) A-level in Travel and Tourism 2021.
A former St. Ignatius Catholic School student, Liam recently received his year 13 examination results and has been applauded by his alma mater for his academic success. “I am very grateful for the amount of congrats I have received. I really enjoyed the subject Travel and Tourism and I studied very hard and gave it my best in the exams,” said Liam Bulgin, Class of 2021, and St. Ignatius High School.
“It is a wonderful feeling to have received the highest mark in the world. [A] big thank you to my teachers at St. Ignatius and to my family for the support and encouragement,” he added.
Expressing pride in her son’s results, Liam’s mother Mrs. Cindy Jefferson-Bulgin said, “As parents we are very proud of [his] academic achievement. He has always been a very diligent and focused young man. Thanks to St. Ignatius School for their excellent tutoring, nurturing and pastoral support of Liam. It is all greatly appreciated,” she said.
The Cambridge International syllabus provides students with an understanding of the nature of travel and tourism from global, national and local perspectives.
Liam expressed enjoyment in learning about how countries differentiate themselves from each other and how they attract tourists. “Getting to know the countries brands and their unique selling points was my favourite part of the course,” he said.
Hon. Kenneth Bryan, Minister for Tourism and Transport offered his congratulations, commenting, “It is truly exciting to learn that the highest mark worldwide in the subject of Travel and Tourism has been garnered by a student from the Cayman Islands! I would like to recognise Liam for his exceptional performance which has earned him the ‘Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award.’ I extend my warmest congratulations to this young man for an achievement for which we can all be proud and I wish him well as he continues his studies,” added Minister Bryan.
Liam Bulgin is currently pursuing a degree in Business Studies at York University in Ontario, Canada.
