Cayman: Nov 15 – 22 Weekly Review – George Town and Sir JAC Under 9s share the spoils
A number of games this past weekend in the CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) were affected by the flu that has lately been prevalent in a number of primary schools across the Island.
Although affected significantly by the current health situation, the battle of the districts nonetheless still took place on Saturday as George Town Primary travelled to West Bay to face Sir John A. Cumber Primary in a rivalry that dates back to the 1970s. Fielding only six players due to illness, George Town Primary’s Under 9s would take an early lead over their adversaries and were on their way to a famous victory until conceding a goal late in the second half. Given the monstrous task they faced with the numbers they had, a 1-1 draw for the boys from the capital was a just reward.
In the Under 11 encounter, Sir John A. Cumber topped their rivals from George Town 2-1.
In other scores from Group A, it was Cayman International School 4 vs. Joanna Clarke Primary 0 (Under 9; respect rule), Cayman International School 4 vs. Joanna Clarke Primary 0 (Under 11; respect rule), St. Ignatius Catholic 1 vs. Cayman prep 9B 2 (Under 9) and St. Ignatius Catholic 1 vs. Cayman Prep 11B 1 (Under 11).
In Group B, it was Theoline L. McCoy Primary 0 vs. Cayman Prep 11A 4 (Under 11; respect rule) and NorthEast Schools 0 vs. Red Bay Primary 4 (Under 11; respect rule).
In the CUC GPFL, Cayman Prep defeated Joanna Clarke Primary 4-0 (respect rule) and Sir John A. Cumber Primary drew 0-0 with Triple C.
The 2022 CUC PFL and GPFL regular seasons end this Saturday, November 19 and the 2022 playoffs begin on Saturday, November 26.
