Cayman: NSC Post Meeting Summary 25 February 2025

NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL OF THE CAYMAN ISLANDS – POST MEETING SUMMARY
Her Excellency the Governor, Mrs. Jane Owen, chaired the meeting of the National Security Council held
on Tuesday, 25th February 2025 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.
All Members of the National Security Council were present.
At this meeting the National Security Council:
- Received a presentation from the Director of the National Roads Authority on the Business Case
for Automated Speed Enforcement using LIDAR Technology to improve road safety, outlining the
benefits of speed cameras and projected costs over a 3-year period. The NSC endorsed the plan
which they agreed would reduce road accidents and fatalities. - Director of Customs and Border Control provided Council with an update on contingency planning
and cross government work to handle irregular migration. - Commissioner of Police provided Council with an update on recent criminal activities, including
the recent robberies and discharge of firearms reports and Police Week accomplishments.
