Cayman: Over 800 jobs advertised on National Jobs Portal, Caymanians urged to apply
Caymanians are being urged to apply for over 800 jobs being advertised on the Jobs Cayman portal administered by Workforce Opportunities Cayman (WORC).
The Ministry of Border Control & Labour and WORC have teamed up on a month-long campaign to advertise all available jobs in the local weekly newspapers and drive jobseekers to the online portal to register and apply.
The printed newspaper inserts are being augmented with online ads, radio public service announcements and radio talk show interviews to raise awareness.
The inaugural job listing insert was printed on Friday, 18 February with the next issues being published in newspapers on Friday, 25 February, Friday, 4 March and Friday, 11 March.
An overrun of the first edition of job listing inserts was distributed through the constituency offices of all PACT Members of Parliament.
While the print campaign is ongoing, efforts are also underway at WORC to make available jobs visible to individuals not registered on the Jobs Cayman portal. However, registration remains mandatory in order to apply for any of the advertised positions.
Acting Director of WORC Laura Watler said, “We continue to encourage all Caymanian job seekers to register with us to ensure that they have the first opportunity at the available jobs being posted. We understand the limitations with accessibility to the job listings and we are working on solutions to remove these. In addition to advertising all local job listings in the printed weekly newspapers, we are working to make job listings on the Jobs Cayman portal visible without registration and looking to make the application process through registration more streamlined.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Border Control & Labour Hon. Chris Saunders said, “Part of the promise of the PACT Government is to offer all Caymanians equal opportunity to succeed. As I have often said, while we cannot guarantee equal outcome, we can guarantee equal opportunity. Toward this end, the Ministry of Border Control & Labour, in tandem with and via Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman (WORC), is working to make the process of applying for available jobs easier for all Caymanian jobseekers.”
Deputy Premier Saunders explained that the printed job listings would be published while changes are being made to the Jobs Cayman portal.
He said, “While our dedicated teams continue to fine tune the Jobs Cayman portal, we have decided to publish all available jobs so interested Caymanian job seekers can readily and easily see what jobs are currently vacant. I am asking all Caymanian jobseekers to peruse the directory listing and be sure to apply for those jobs that fit their skills and interests. Once you’ve found the jobs you want to apply for, just go online to WORC.ky to register with Jobs Cayman and apply.”
