Cayman: Passport Office Urges the Public to Prepare

Grand Cayman, Friday, 10 May 2024 – The Passport and Corporate Services Office is advising the public to check their passports to ensure all is in order ahead of the upcoming hurricane season, which begins Saturday, 1 June 2024.

As part of the general hurricane season preparedness plan, the public should:

  • Check their passport expiry date to ensure validity for the dates of travel,
  • Check that their passport is valid according to the country’s entry requirements. For example, when travelling to the United States, the British Overseas Territories passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of intended departure from United States,
  • Apply for/renew passports ahead of travel time (during peak periods processing time can increase to 10 to 12 weeks), and
  • Apply for and process any necessary visas as required for their travel.

In commenting, a representative of the Office explained, “a crucial part of hurricane preparedness is checking travel documents to ensure they are valid in case the need arises for emergency travels.”

For more information on passport services, members of the public may contact the Passport and Corporate Services Office at 345-649-7678 or 345-943-7678, or via email, passport&[email protected].

The Passport and Corporate Services Office provides passport services to British Overseas Territory citizens residing in the Cayman Islands, US Visa waivers. The office is also responsible for the issuance of the Governor’s Special Marriage Licence and the legislation of documents.
