Shortly before 7:30PM, Friday 15 September, police responded to a 911 call to service regarding a prisoner who had escaped the custody of prison officers while receiving medical treatment at the George Town Hospital.

On arriving at the scene, police officers pursued the prisoner and he was soon apprehended and arrested for Escaping Lawful Custody.  The prisoner was transferred to the detention center for processing.

A comprehensive investigation has been launched to ascertain the details of the escape. HM Cayman Islands Prison Service will continue to work closely with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service on the investigation.
