Cayman Police Arrest One Man in Relation to Robbery at Bodden Town [Savannah] Restaurant

At around 9:40PM, Saturday 22 February, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a restaurant on Homestead Crescent, Savannah.
It was reported that three persons entered the restaurant wearing face coverings, dressed in dark clothing. Two were armed with machetes, and a third with a firearm.
One of the suspects took a large sum of money from the cash register, then all three persons fled the premises on foot to the rear of the restaurant. A vehicle, a silver Honda Fit, was identified as being involved in the incident.
Various police units, including the Firearms Response Unit, with the assistance of the police helicopter, tracked the vehicle to Templeton Street, Windsor Park, where one male exited the vehicle and fled into the bushes.
Police pursued the suspect on foot and arrested the man, a 34-year-old of West Bay, on suspicion of Robbery. He was transported to the CI Detention Centre, where he remains in custody.
The incident is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department and anyone with information is being encouraged to call the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.
