Cayman: Police carry out Joint Operation in West Bay
From RCIPS
Just after 3:15PM yesterday, 18 January, a number of RCIPS Units attended a residence on Duxies Lane in West Bay to execute a search warrant. The officers were accompanied by officers from the Animal Welfare Unit of the DOA.
When the officers arrived, dogs were cleared from the yard by the DOA officers to grant the police safe entry. The search was carried out by the K-9 Unit as well as a search team of police officers. The police canine assisted officers in locating a man, age 38, of West Bay who was hiding in a shed at the residence. A search of the shed led officers to locate and seize several packages of ganja along with a number of drug paraphernalia. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja with intent to supply, possession of drug utensils, and other drug related offenses.
He was taken into custody where he remains pending further investigation.
Several of the dogs that were at the location were also seized by the DOA and an Animal Welfare Investigation will be carried out regarding several violations observed in regards to their care.
