Police Investigate Collision and Serious Assault

Just after 2:30PM yesterday, 15 February, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a collision that took place on West Church Street in the vicinity of the West Bay Police Station. It appeared that the two occupants of the vehicle were engaged in a physical altercation and both sustained serious injuries.
Officers attended the location and the altercation between the two men was diffused. The men were rendered first aid by the police officers and officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service, after which, the men were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
One of the men, a 43-year-old-man of George Town was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. He was later bailed pending further investigation. The other man sustained serious injuries and was detained while he received his medical treatment.
The matter is being investigated by the police.
Wanted Convicted Man, Marcus Manderson, Arrested

Shortly after 10:40AM today, 16 February, wanted man Marcus Manderson was arrested following a proactive police operation at a residence in the Washington Boulevard Area of George Town.
Manderson had been convicted (in absentia) on 2 December, 2022 following a Grand Court trial, for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, after having previously absconded Court bail.
Manderson received a bite from a police K-9 during the arrest. He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged into police custody. During the operation, police also recovered a loaded firearm from the residence.
