Cayman: Police Respond to Fatal Collision in Savannah, 8 December

Around 8.30PM, Saturday 7 December, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle collision, on Rex Crighton Boulevard, in the vicinity of Democracy Drive, Savannah.

It was reported that the vehicle, a Honda Accord, was travelling in an easterly direction, when it left the roadway and collided with a concrete wall and flipped.  Persons in the vicinity attempted to assist the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle.

On arriving at the scene police and other emergency services extracted the driver, who was unresponsive, and the sole occupant of the vehicle.  He was transported by ambulance to the George Town Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

The driver, is a 19-year-old male, from West Bay.  The RCIPS expresses their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Management Unit. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or have any other information, to contact 649-6254.
