Cayman: Police Investigate Fatal Collision in George Town

Shortly before 11:20PM yesterday, 23 August, officers responded to a report of a fatal single-vehicle collision along Esterley Tibbetts Highway, just north of the Butterfield Roundabout, involving a white Toyota Mark X. It was reported that the vehicle was travelling southbound when it left the roadway and collided with a fence.
Emergency services attended the location, and both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment. One of the occupants, a man age 39 of Bodden Town, was declared deceased. Another male occupant was taken into custody and has been granted bail while the inquiry continues.
The southbound lanes of the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, between the Butterfield and Camana Bay South roundabouts, were temporarily closed as the scene was processed. They have since been reopened.
The matter is being investigated by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit and anyone with any information is asked to contact 649-6254.
