Cayman: PWD Skills Competition Awards Ceremony

The Public Works Department’s third Annual Skills Competition Awards’ Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2024, at 3:00 PM at 370 North Sound Road.

This year’s awards will recognize excellence among Caymanians in the following categories:

 *   Masonry
 *   Electrical Installation
 *   Plumbing
 *   AC and Refrigeration

The annual skills competition held by the Public Works Department (PWD), showcases the skills learned by young Caymanians from the Construction Trades Training Centre. This calendar event celebrates the value of technical skills and encourages Caymanian youth to pursue vocational education and training. By providing a platform for the construction industry to identify and develop elite workers, the competition not only recognizes the skills of apprentices, but also enhances their employability.

The 2024 skills competition will run throughout May 29,2024 – May 31,2024 and will:

 *   Highlight the importance of technical skills
 *   Reinforce the value of vocational training among young people
 *   Enhance the skill levels of industry professionals
 *   Foster an environment for recognizing and developing the top Caymanian talent in the construction industry

Each trade competition will be evaluated by industry and skills experts against strict criteria, assessing an individual’s knowledge, practical competence and employability.
